ARCADES ET COLONNADES
When it comes to colonnades and arches, more is more. The enfilade of an army of pillars has a rhythm to it that really appeals to my affinity for order and neatness. To say nothing of grandeur. Add the generous curves of an arch, and you have the perfect balance between strict and sensuous, soft and linear. I find that I often want to say wow! in their presence.
A little climbing greenery never hurts
Arches spell beauty inside and out.

au revoir.
Jeanne, These are such beautiful photographs and how fabulous that they are your own and that you have visited these places. We recently visited Marrakech and I fell in love with the country. Will you show us more, please?

I'm off to Boston for the weekend and plan to revisit The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, I have not been there in years but do recall the courtyard columns, apparently she bought them in Venice and had them shipped over. I recently had a problem trying to smuggle salami back from Italy, sigh.
ReplyDeleteAll of your photographs are gorgeous and inviting but I must confess that I am partial to the image with the six bottles of wine.
