WHY NOT A BLACK MANTLE

ET POURQUOI PAS UNE CHEMINEE NOIRE
Last week, I mentioned that some fireplace mantles wre happy disappearing into the overall color scheme of a space.
Today, U turn.
These mantles want to be front and center, me-me-me, not shy wall flowers. They are relatively common in Paris, be they cast in dark iron or chiseled out of black marble, draping their pretty shapes in a sleek LBD- a little black dress- if you will. Quite elegantly, I'd say.

  1. I love the use of black, I do it in my own home. It looks striking and elegant.

  2. I love black mantles and the one with the two blue sofas is stunning. I just painted an inside door black and the husband almost died but he loves it now. I wonder how he would feel about a black mantle?

  3. I just visited a friend at his Chicago apartment. Not only were the mantels black but he and his partner had ebonized the floors! Stunning!

  5. Yes, why not? A refreshing(?) visual while everyone is painting every molding and stick of furniture white these days.
