SIDI BOU SAID, TUNISIA

Sidi Bou Saïd,Tunisia
where I was first taught to swim at the age of four- our parents wanted to know we could play around the beach without worrying. Our maitre nageur- swimming teacher- Zouitine, had a very practical method: he would push us into the water from a low rock and tell us to dog paddle back to him. It seemed then like crossing the English Channel...
This is all I can think of on these cold snowy days...

Back then our summer house was one of only a dozen houses on the beach of Gammarth...
This is now.
Sidi Bou Saïd wraps around the first short cape and our house was just before it on the water's edge.
Le monde avance.
The world forges ahead.

bon weekend.

  1. We received five more inches of snow yesterday so I wish I were swimming there too. Beautiful place to have lived!
