LES BOITES
boxes hold our treasures and secrets or perhaps nothing at all;
alone on a table or en masse, there simply for the pleasure of our eyes,
they display their chiseled splendor or their satiny patina;
large or small, minimally plain or strikingly ornate,
they help us organise, hide, horde, and protect;
one day we'll lift a lid and find an old forgotten photo,
we'll flip open a decorated top to reveal neat rows of chocolates,
we'll anxiously remove the heavy wood cover
hiding our stash of shimmering seaglass
