LE NOIR
"Don't be afraid of the dark"; this phrase from the fabulous song "You'll never walk alone", also goes for interiors and fashion; and what is the ultimate dark but black. It can be an attractive accent or an entire stunning look; the little black dress, the Chanel bag, those tall black boots; and the iconic black Eames chair, black and white photos in charcoal frames, a satiny ebony floor; at times revealed in a detail, perhaps dressing an entire room; well, almost an entire room; at its most minimal, black is paired with shades of white or a variety of grays; at its boldest it is punched with bright shots of saturated color; I never find it never somber nor gloomy, but rather, striking.
