LES BERGERES HAUTES
A very dear client is considering using two wing chairs on each side of an oval table in front of a large bow window in her dining room. The space is very large and there are already eight chairs around the dining table and four more around the perimeter, so tall seating makes real sense. This arrangement will create a cozy conversation tète-à-tète, and at the same time bring height to that side of the room, framed as it will be by the long curtains on each side of the tall window.
Wing chairs have a reputation for being somewhat stuffy but new shapes, materials and modern lines have given this overlooked piece renewed appeal.
My favorite wing chair is definitely Arne Jacobson's Egg Chair. I used one in a room I designed for the last French Designer Showhouse I participated in a while ago. I wish I still had it, but it was on loan as most showhouse furniture often is....
I think I like even more in this luxurious caramel leather.

au revoir.
I'm loving those first two wings chairs. We don't own any but I wish I had thought of using a couple around our dining table rather then plain straightback chairs.
ReplyDeleteCall me old fashioned, but I do have a soft spot for wing chairs! Some of the fabric choices you have shown are just perfect for updating a classic!
