LES PORTES CAPITONNEES
In a lot of old movies you see the man of the house or the "boss"- yes, always a man...-retire to his office and close tall upholstered doors behind him. So many intrigues, secret phone calls and discussions away from indiscreet ears take place inside.
Upholstered doors are perfect for privacy but they are also very beautiful! I must have doors like that in my next place. Maybe the armored front door of my next Paris apartment? We'll see, if and when I have one with such a possibility...

My husband is an upholsterer (one of the best I've ever seen). I was looking for a site to link to "upholstered doors" on our website. These are the most beautiful doors I found. I love your blog! As designers of upholstered furniture your site is an inspiration!!!
ReplyDeleteYep, it's the old movies. I walk alone Burt Lancaster. Can't miss the door http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=er0PgqKMt6Q While watching this movie, never finished watching it, I started dreaming of upholstering doors. Sorry, love old movies simply for the design and good dialog. PS I am also an upholsterer. Nearly 30 years in furniture.
