HARLEQUIN
When we were little girls in Tunisia, we had fabulous "headboards" in the huge bedroom I shared with 2 of my sisters: our mother commissioned an extremely talented artist friend of hers to paint Harlequins above each of our beds. We each had a different one somewhat like the one below. I have loved the figure and the pattern on his clothes ever since.

This one by Jean Cocteau is totally different yet very recognizable.

au revoir.
Your mama must have been talented too!
ReplyDeleteHarlequins are such an inspiration: their colors, their mistery, their joy, their unique movements when they walk... I have a friend, Carola Trimano, who basis her art on the harlequins and their spirit. If you want to know a little bit of her work, go check it out: http://bonecoscoloridos.blogspot.com/2009/01/circenses-no-arco.html
ReplyDeleteIt's been a while since I follow your blog, and it brings me a lot of inspiration. Congratulations from Brasil!
