Poufs and ottomans

LES POUFS

Un pouf. [poof] French for bench or ottoman;
a low seat without a back or arms;
a pouf is a versatile seat, part sitting accomodation, part accessory;
it can easily be  moved around from place to place in a room
or from room to room;
it can add a pop of color, define a style, and create a relaxed mood
with its air of bohemian elegance.

a touch of Africa

I love the aura of the "world traveler" that a hint of Africa lends to any room,
be it modern, classic or of any other wide range of styles.
This can be easily achieved with an animal print fabric,
a "wild animal" rug (imitation, of course), a simple well worn bench..

or the cushy luxury of a simple typical moroccan "pouf"
with a tone-on-tone embroidery,
this one in a house in Marrakesh.

mmmm...  cosy and so elegant

A very comfortable ottoman in a NY home office
transforms an otherwise all-business  space
into a cosy room where visitors
(in this house it's very often the cats...)
can stay a while and chat.

Spirit galore

These floor pillows, in a riot of deep spicy tones,
are fun, youthful and amusing
and can  easily migrate from here to there.
And what a technical feat!
even for those of you who can knit to perfection, I am sure.

witty and intense

This amusing cube is made of recycled grocery bag  yarn, "plarn", in Morocco!
its light, waterproof, decorative and versatile enough to use indoors or outdoors.
It is part of a line of decorative accessories
made by a very talented French designer
who settled in Marrakesh 8 years ago.
She got the idea of using  plastic bags
from the multitude of bags that were floating around
forlorn near her house as, in fact,
everywhere in the Moroccan countryside.

au revoir.
